Cut thumbnails, stick stickers and drop ink spots. This is how Christophe Stouvenel says “Kiki ” defines his No Sense series.

Inspired by surrealism and Dada, everything starts from the idea of ​​assembling on grain paper, like a child but with the rigor of an adult, elements as disparate as scraps of old paper or sheet music, ride tickets, old labels, photo negatives etc… and this has no direct relationship between them.

To these chosen, cut, glued, organized elements, the artist “collagist” for the occasion, randomly adds spots of Indian ink and colored stickers.

With this choice of expression format for his “No Sense” (which he structures all in the same way, under the same type of framing in matt black, and without ever giving them a name), “Kiki” thus makes homage to the old papers, these newspapers or old books dating from the years 1900/1930 as well as those of the 80s, periods from which he draws an inexhaustible inspiration. This series therefore exists only by the fact that it has no definite meaning, that it is not limited in any way whatsoever.
