Vintage Design

This vintage white enamel tobacco sign was used by small shops in Italy selling state-monopoly products such as tobacco and cigarettes but also salt and stamps.
This ‘Sali e Tabacchi’ oval sign with rounded edge is on white background and decorated with the emblem of Italy that was formally adopted by the newly formed Italian Republic on 5 May 1948.
"Rivendita numero six" or "Resale number six" is the official license number referring to the absolute number of tobacco shops in a specific Italian town.

The lower part of the sign is moderately rusty and the writing "Repubblica Italiana" (Italian Republic) is faded.
