About This Piece

A charming watercolor view of Venice by Guido Peruzzi, a painter known for his ability to capture the brightness and atmosphere of the lagoon. The work depicts the Rialto Bridge and the stretch of the Grand Canal in front, with gondolas in the foreground and figures animating the fondamenta on the right.
The composition is airy and well-balanced: the architecture is delicately rendered, while the movement of the water—with green and blue reflections—shows remarkable pictorial sensitivity. The signature is present at the bottom right.
The watercolor is presented in a contemporary gold-pastel frame that enhances the scene.
