Set of 6 Kato Kogei Fujimori Humoresque Abstract Japan plates.

Measures: 7 1/4" by 9 7/8 - Geometric pattern with black, yellow, blue, red on white background.
Mark Kato Kogei Fujimori Japan appropriate for the back of the plate.

Period: 1980 -VINTAGE

Fujimori was born in Japan in 1935 and won the National Art Award when he was only 19 years old. He went on to win many important awards, including the Grand Prize at the Nitten Exhibition (a major Japanese art organization). He worked in Chicago as a ceramic designer before returning to Japan in 1963. He was appointed artistic director of Kato Kogei Ceramics, where he oversaw the design and distribution of its iconic line.

These pieces are the quintessence of postmodern design of the 1980s.
