Pro-Pos Armchair from Hulmefa, 1960s

Rare Dutch armchair with sculptural design. This armchair comes from the progressive Pro-Pos series of the Hulmefa company from Nieuw Pekela. The most famous from this series are the “Koehoor/Cowhorn chairs”. What many do not know is that the Tijsseling company, together with Hulmefa, released more furniture in addition to these chairs in the typical and then very progressive Pro-Pos series. This type of armchair, with its great design and beautiful details, can rightly be called a Dutch Design Classic! The finish, the use of materials and the distinctive design, in combination with the fact that this model is almost only found in the Netherlands, makes the armchair very rare and sought after on the international market. The details make this piece of furniture, just look at the beautiful design of the armrests where they transition to the backrest, made of solid teak, this is a strong example of craftsmanship. This example has been in the possession of a previous true enthusiast for many years and is in a very neat original condition, the wooden frame is very well cared for, as is the period correct plowwool upholstery.
