Purkersdorf Armchairs & Side Table by Josef Hoffmann for Wittmann, Austria, 1980s, Set of 3

Pair of 'Purkersdorf' armchairs + table designed by Josef Hoffmann around 1905 for the Purkersdorf Sanatorium. This particular set is manufactured by Wittmann Austria in the 1980s. All marked with the original Wittmann label.
Many times the design is also attributed to Kolomon Moser, but Johannes Spalt (1920-2010), professor at the University für angewandte Kunst in Viena, finished his research with the conclusion that it was Josef Hoffmann's design and not Koloman Mosers'.
The Purkersdorf Sanatorium was built 1904/05 by architect Josef Hoffmann, a disciple of Otto Wagner, the founder of modern architecture in Austria. It is an example of architecture from the Vienna Secession and paved the way for modern architecture.
The chairs and table are made of white lacquered beech wood. The chairs have a black and white woven straps-seating. The table has a octagonal top and a square base. The dimensions of the table are w: 70,5 ; d: 70,5 ; h: 71.
The black and white colour scheme and quadratic motifs of this chair and table were a continuum throughout the foyer of Hoffmann's Purkersdorf sanatorium.
Beautiful set.
The chairs are in good original condition. One chair is a bit 'yellowed'. The table is also in good condition, but has a 'yellowed' area on the bottom shelf. See pictures.
