Ruspa Four Light Table Lamps by Gae Aulenti for Martinelli Luce, 1960s, Set of 2

Very rare pair of table lamp mod. Russe/4 original 1960s. Martinelli Luce label.
The name suggests its genesis: the inspiration for the designer is observing an arm of an excavator in order to perform work on a construction site.

In addition, the combination of the vertical movement of the arm and the head of the lamp clearly remember that of the operating machine from which it takes its name.

The result is extraordinary, absolutely sculptural and completely unpublished.

Of a breathtaking beauty, Ruspa is recognized as being a study on Futurism at the same time, the beginning of the Italian design movement so -called Space was between 1968 and 1972. The four -arms version is very rare and precious.

Made in white lacquered metal, it is present in the various international museums; Once positioned at home, it captures the space becoming a protagonist regardless of the version you own: with one arm and two swivel spotlights or with four arms and eight swivel spotlights.

The lamps of Gae Aulenti are never "only lamps" but "space compositions", three -dimensional projects that then in a second farce become objects to illuminate.

Initially they are sculptures and only afterwards does the function come into play and it is for this reason that Gae Aulenti has never squeezed to minimalism.
