Sail Out Outdoor Sofa by Rodolfo Dordoni for Cassina

Sofa designed by Rodolfo Dordoni in 2020. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy. Inspired by the spirit of 1950s seaside resorts, Sail Out is an outdoor modular sofa that recalls the soft forms of fabric blow-up beds thanks to the single bands with removable padding inserted in individually stitched pockets. It boasts sartorial details, like the trim in grey gros-grain or the same fabric as the sofa, and extreme comfort thanks to the use of SoloSoff® padding, a blown polyester fibre and memory foam-based product. Versatile and functional, with a metal frame, Sail Out offers an infinite variety of combinations thanks to the 3 seat modules available - with 5, 6 or 7 bands - and the three additional elements: the teak side table and the armrest/backrest, available in two heights, are interchangeable thanks to a joint mechanism on the teak panels of the frame that is reminiscent of car headrests. Important information regarding images of products: About the designer: Born in 1954, member of the Milanese tradition that generated designers such as Castiglioni, Zanuso, Magistretti and de Lucchi, graduated in architecture at the Politecnico of Milan in 1979. Since then, he has designed for most of the leading names in the furniture and lighting sectors. For some of these, as head of design, he sets and co-ordinates the strategy of the product. Since years, he worked as a designer and a consultant for high level brands, for product design with Artemide and Moroso, and for shops, showrooms and exhibitions with Panasonic and Dolce & Gabbana. He also designs housing projects, villas, industrial buildings, restaurants and hotels both in Italy and worldwide. In 2005 he founded, with Alessandro Acerbi and Luca Zaniboni, the Dordoni Architects Studio, which is dedicated specifically to architectural planning and interior design.
