About This Piece

Vintage Design

An antique farmhouse chopping (slågbord) table from Sweden, finished in black. The table has two extendable wings (66 cm long) supported by a special mechanism. This mechanism allows the table to be completely folded down to a compact size. Two drawers with brass handles are located on either side of the table. To my knowledge, the drawers have been replaced over the years. Both wings are suspended and fold out on metal hinges. The tabletop shows visible surface damage (from cutting with a knife or other sharp object) from years of use. When fully extended, the table can seat up to 10 people. Despite its age, it is still very functional.
