The abstract, geometric composition creates the simple elegance of this Turkoman Rug. The pattern flatters the design of the room and does not take the attention away from its furniture, decoration and architectural elements. It creates a pleasant atmosphere without dominating the style of the room. The embellished edging (border) forms a beautiful contrast to the center and creates a transition at the edge of the rug. The repeating elements in the center field of this Turkoman Rug rug have no specific center (so-called repeating pattern). The repeating pattern has a calming but not boring effect. Rugs with repeating patterns are also called patterned. The background of this Turkoman Rug is rusty red. The border features old rose and dark brown. This Turkoman Rug has had admirers before you. It was hand knotted about 1940. It has been thoroughly cleaned and only partially restored condition but is in good condition. We have not completely restored this Turkoman Rug because we think it is as it is effect. The pile of this Turkoman Rug has been hand-knotted from high-quality virgin wool. Virgin wool is obtained through the gentle shearing of sheep. Virgin wool is a sustainable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties; due to the wool's natural fat content, the surface repels water droplets and is thus naturally impervious to dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, has a regulating effect on living climate and muffles sound. The backing (weft and warp threads) of this Turkoman Rug is made of virgin wool.
