Vintage Anthropomorphic Hand-Decorated Glazed Ceramic Vase for Manifattura Miracoli Venezia, 1950s

Wonderful anthropomorphic glazed ceramic vase, modeled by hand first on a potter's wheel and then further hand-finished and entirely hand-decorated under showcase, in the shape of a half-naked young woman, probably, judging by the skirt, of African or indigenous ethnicity, made and signed by the "Miracoli Venezia" manufactory, an important 1950s ceramic manufactory whose pieces are very rare and sought after by collectors. Datable to around the 1950s-60s. Made in full Cubist style.

Useful information for the evaluation of the object:
A search of the web shows us that the ceramics of the "Miracoli" manufactory are very rare and the prices asked in online platforms for the sale of art and antiques, as well as the estimates and some auction results we have found range from a minimum of 200-300 euros for bowls or cache pots, to over 500-600 euros for the most beautiful vases, which, however, in our opinion, have nothing to do with the beauty and rarity of our vase.

Final remarks on the object:
Our vase, as we have already said, is nothing like the pieces found on the web, being in our opinion extremely more beautiful, rare and valuable. Both because of the fact that it is an anthropomorphic vase, and certainly anthropomorphic or zoomorphic vases are extremely rarer than ordinary vases, plates or bowls, most moreover very small, and then the peculiarity is that the vase possesses is that it is made in full Cubist style and has a beautiful Picassian flavor, it looks like a real Pablo Picasso vase. Since this was a very important manufacture, as already mentioned, it could afford to be inspired by the works of this great artist without fear of being accused of plagiarism, and in those days these kinds of Cubist vases were very much in vogue.

Manifattura Miracoli has been active in Venice since 1954 producing artistic ceramics. Founded by brothers Walter and Danilo Ottolin, Adriana Urso and Silvano Gosparini. The manufactory, which lasted until 1965, made decorative and artistic ceramics often in a primitivist and abstract style.
