Pair of "Costes" armchairs designed by Philippe Starck for Aleph Driade, Italy, circa 1984.

Black lacquered tubular steel frame combined with a black-finished bent plywood shell, the whole upholstered in foam and covered in black leather. Created for the Café Costes in Paris, this model is distinguished by its tripod base, a technical solution designed to optimize maintenance and circulation within the dining area. The design combines formal rigor and controlled comfort, with a silhouette immediately recognizable in the landscape of 1980s design. The first editions, like this one, do not have the rear opening introduced on later versions.
