A rare set of six iconic stylish vintage teak and paper cord dining chairs handmade in Denmark and designed by Niels Otto Moller for JL Moller in the 1950s. They are model 71, first designed in 1951. The sweeping lines of the frame are made in solid and laminated teak. The traditional woven seats are in paper cord. Each one bears the original Moller maker’s label; Danish furniture control label; maker’s serial number stamp; and a Danasco importers label. Their sleek, teak design with large seat base combined with impeccable craftsmanship, showcase what makes these chairs so iconic in the furniture industry. Unlike most MCM dining chairs which were designed for smaller bottoms, these chairs are incredibly comfortable, the curved back will ensure your guests stay in their seats longer and linger over their meal. Perfect for collectors, MCM enthusiasts and those wanting to create a modern on trend home, or those who simply want comfort at their dining table! Size Approx: H to seat 43 cm. H to top of back 79 cm. W 50cm. D 50 cm. In good used condition. Structurally sound. There are signs of wear commensurate with age, some scuffs, marks and scratches to the frames and the paper cord. One of the chairs has some historical wood worm damage, there are several holes in the frame and also some to the paper cord. The cord has been damaged on this chair and has started to come away at the front of the seat. None of the other chairs are affected. It is historical damage, but the chair has been treated for woodworm. This chair can still be used/sat on as it is, but we would suggest that it would benefit from new cord and being re-woven.
