Exquisite Provenance & Parisian Elegance
This exceptional "secrétaire à abattant" (drop-front desk) is a true piece of French history. It bears the original (partial) label of the world-renowned Parisian department store, "Au Bon Marché". Founded in 1838, Le Bon Marché was a pioneer of French luxury, and its furniture workshops were celebrated for their uncompromising quality and traditional cabinet-making techniques.
Design & Craftsmanship
• Material: Crafted from high-quality solid French oak with a beautiful warm honey patina.
• Style: Louis XV Provincial. The piece features a stunning hand-carved "Coquille" (shell) on the lower apron and delicate floral arrangements on the front panels.
• Features: The drop-front opens to a refined interior workspace with pigeonholes and small drawers. Below, two spacious drawers offer significant storage, adorned with their original bronze-finish hardware.
• Authenticity: Elegant cabriole legs and a scalloped base typical of the 18th-century revival period.
