Vintage Design

Large handwoven vintage wool flatweave rug (303 × 197 cm / 9'11" × 6'5") from the Transylvanian folk weaving tradition of Romania — bold geometric banding and diamond motifs in a vibrant palette of teal, mustard, red, orange, and burgundy. Fringe ends. Transylvanian geometric rugs are among the rarest regional traditions in Romanian weaving — characterized by confident geometric structure and bold color combinations that feel remarkably modern today.
Romanian hand-woven rugs were included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in December 2016, recognized as an expression of creativity, identity, and social cohesion passed down through generations of skilled weavers. Each piece in our collection is a genuine artifact of this living tradition, personally curated over 20 years of collecting in Romania.
Technique: handwoven on a traditional loom, 100% wool, natural/vegetable dyes. Flatweave profile — lies perfectly flat under furniture. Fringe ends. Condition: good vintage, clean and ready to use. No odor, no holes, no repairs. Light age-appropriate wear consistent with vintage handmade textiles.
