About This Piece

Vintage Design

High Back "Wingback" easy chair in original patinated leather. Designed in 1935 by Frits Henningsen. Manufactured probably around 1955 by cabinetmaker Frits Henningsen in Denmark.

Provenance: from the Mr. and Mrs. Gutfreund iconic NYC Fifth Avenue Apartment. Mr. Gutfreund was a banker and the couple was part of the New-York high society in the 1960-70s.
The Gutfreund home was decorated by Henri Samuel, one of the pre-eminent US interior designers of the 20th century known as the Master of the French interior.
