Art Nouveau Model 717 Armchair by Gustav Siegel for J. & J. Kohn, 1890s

A Very Rare Armchair which in no way loses its charm and glamor despite being over 90 years old; indeed this Art Nouveau chair appeared in the Kohn's Catalogue as early as 1904.
This Liberty Armchair appeared 2 years earlier in various magazines as part of a "dining room set-up at the "Winther Exbition of the Imperial and Royal Austrian Museum of Art and Industry in Vienna, Its design has been erroneously attributed for years to the artist Koloman Moser because in the photo taken during the exhibition, the armchair were positioned near the splendid decorative stained glass windows by this artist.
The structure of the armchair is made in the typical secessionist style, in curved beech wood, as visible in most of the products by Jacob & Josef Kohn but also by the historic Thonet brand; but the distinctive element between this and the other Art Nouveau armchairs are in the ends of the legs with a quadrangular section made of brass.
The armchair that we offer for sale has been reupholstered with a green velvet that can be washed with cold water, while the wooden part of the chair has undergone a conservative restoration, respecting the patina and the signs of aging.
