About This Piece

Mixed media on Beech wood panel. Unframed I am drawn to making abstract works, as I find the loose visual description allows more freedom for interpretation and a greater sense of visual journey; slowing down the experience and allowing the viewer to explore and connect with the artwork on a deeper, more personal level. My work is influenced by my fascination and passion for the landscape and nature, and often references my scientific and musical background The 3D form is created using a moulding substrate which has been applied to the primed, cradled beech wood panel (2cm deep). The paints used are acrylics with varying degrees of opacity and translucency to allow colours to show through upper layers.
