Rare Swedish Rölakan Flatweave Carpet by Svensk Hemslöjd, Signed SH. Sweden, 1950s.

A refined and highly collectible Swedish rölakan flatweave carpet produced by Svensk Hemslöjd during the post-war period, reflecting the enduring ideals of Scandinavian craftsmanship and restrained modernism.

Handwoven in pure wool, the composition is defined by a balanced geometric structure and a calm, architectural rhythm. The carefully harmonized colour palette—shades of blue, indigo, soft grey, black, and natural white—creates a timeless textile presence equally suited to modern interiors and serious Scandinavian design collections.

Signed “SH” in the corner, confirming production by Svensk Hemslöjd. Acquired directly from the family of the original owner in Skåne, Sweden, providing strong provenance.

The carpet has been professionally cleaned by a Swedish textile specialist focusing on historic flatweave carpets and is presented in good vintage condition, with all original tassels intact and an even, well-preserved surface.
