Louis Philippe French Bleached Cherry Buffet

Louis Philippe Sever / Buffet hand-made in France using cherry and pegged construction. The buffet shows a three over two configuration, with three inset drawers on the top and a single cabinet with two doors at the bottom. As typical with the style, the server has very simple, straight lines and has an overall very elegant appearance. The doors and the sides are made with flat inset panels framed by flat molding, whereas the top features a board, framed on four sides, with rounded edges and chamfered front corners. The buffet still sits on its original bracket feet, the hardware ahas, however, been replaced with period appropriate brass.
This is a beautiful and very well-made piece of furniture that will provide plenty of storage space while taking a small footprint. A particular feature of this piece is that it is relatively thin and may fit better than other old pieces in a modern home. Its light color, obtained by bleaching the cherry wood, make it look very light, despite it being made of solid wood and actually pretty heavy. The simple lines and light color make it a perfect piece for a home where modern furniture is present but one wants to add a little touch of old.
