About This Piece

A large lithograph based on a painting by the great Rococo painter Francois Boucher - Sylvie Released by Amint.

The main feature of the graphic is monochrome colors in the terracotta and beetroot range. Lithograph is framed in an individually selected, pink frame with a wide passe partout.

The graphic presents a scene based on the 16th-century play of Torquato Tasso - Aminta, which tells the story of Amint's love for the beautiful nymph Sylvie. Extremely popular art inspired the creation of several opera librettos, including those by Mozart.

The scene shows the moment of the release of the nymph chained by Satire. The goddess was shown in the act lying under the tree to which she was tied. Behind her, we see Amint cutting her ties. In the background is a beautiful landscape with hills, trees and swirling clouds.

The graphics reflect the delicacy and finesse of Boucher's line. It is kept in a typical Rococo convention - with great ornamentation and lightness of forms at the same time.
