About This Piece

One of a two of abstract sculptures by Dutch artist Rien Goené (1929-2013) circa 1980, signed. The asymmetrical concertina shaped bronze sculpture is colored with a light green patina. Where areas are rubbed back they reveal the warm bronze underneath. This experiment was part of series sculptural possibilities giving the effect of paper folding and uneven pleating. It is explored further by the unique deep textured patina on the surface areas. Both sculptures are installed on a polished black Belgium marble hollow plinth of the same size.
