About This Piece

The work in question belongs to the Canadian painter Elizabeth Adela Stanhope-Forbes, and can be dated around the early twentieth century, it is an oil on canvas applied to a table and depicts a still life composed of three elements: a vase with three pink flowers , a glass and a bottle, placed on the back of a table.

Vibrant and bright colors are characteristic of the artist's painting, which has obvious influences from post-impressionism and pre-Raphaelites. Stanhope-Forbes preferred an "en plein air" painting, depicting genre scenes often characterized by the presence of children, all giving a particularly tender and romantic mold to her paintings.

The work is in good condition, at the bottom left it has her signature, while on the back there are labels together with the inscription of the artist's name and a probable dedication.
