Ballpoint pen on paper. Signed at lower right. Accompanied by authentication on photo from the Mario Tozzi Archive. In the wide production of the master Tozzi there are many drawings, like this one presented here, executed with different techniques (ink, pastel, pencil, sanguine), dedicated to the human figure: in his dry and stylized style, Mario Tozzi sketches stylized figurines, refined in their silent and discreet geometry, favored by the absence of color, which makes the forms stand out on the white paperAlso in his pictorial production, Mario Tozzi's favorite subjects are, classically, figures and still lifes, but both figures and still lifes are a set of solid geometric elements, the sphere, cylinder, cone, etc. The bodies are elemental, essential in line and detail, mighty, statuesque, composed of barely molded solids, while the still lifes are a celebration of Euclidean geometry such as the pitchers, bowls, and flasks that are paradigms of volumetry and geometric rigor. Mario Tozzi's compositions are influenced by Cubism for certain cuts, Metaphysics for certain architectural insertions, and Abstractionism for the inclusion of geometric figures. The work is presented in a frame.
